Icing test at Cascade TEK

Here’s a chilling photo of a recent ice test done at Cascade TEK. Just as kids cannot resist licking the frozen street pole in the dead of winter, this testing customer cannot resist the urge to touch this large ball of ice surrounding his product.

MIL-STD 810 Section 521 and RTCA DO-160 Section 24 are test specifications that call for a measured build up of ice on a product.  This test is not as easy as it looks.  It takes time to build up ice in a measured, controlled rate.  Water must be sprayed, then frozen, sprayed, frozen many, many times to achieve the required measured build up of ice.  Ice, Dust, Rain are also items typically used in IP Testing at Cascade TEK.

Icing is an ideal test for radar or monitoring devices mounted on ships or other equipment used in cold, wet environments. There are specific test methods for ice build- up depending on the type of equipment. Cascade TEK is accredited to perform them.

Ask Cascade TEK how we can freeze, heat, humidify, shake, drop, spray, corrode, spin, vacuum outgas or rapidly decompress any product you want to take to market.
